PROJECT M1.1

In this project, I explored the value of boredom in a world of constant stimulation. Bored to Be Alive is a traveling experience that invites people to step away from distraction. Set in cafés, the installation creates a transition from a busy public space to a quiet, screen free environment. Through an audio guided experience, participants choose how long they sit with their own thoughts, encouraging stillness, reflection, and renewed awareness.

This was the first project in which it became clear to me that I wanted to work with larger scale experiences and installations. The focus shifted from designing objects to designing conditions for experience and behavior change. I learned how spatial setup, timing, and subtle guidance influence how people engage with an experience, and how design can gently challenge everyday habits by making people slow down.

I developed a low fidelity, iterative prototyping approach in which challenges and reused materials shaped each design round.
